The Drew Dumpster: 0 for 2; One Judge Nixes Guns Returns; Another Ayes Kathleen Savio Estate Changes

The odor from the Drew Dumpster just got a brief blast of air freshener as former Bolingbrook cop Drew Peterson didn't get his guns back from one judge, but did get a big money change from another--and finally, he faces liability for lawsuits from the family of third wife Kathleen Savio.

Peterson, you may recall, seems to have what he calls "bad luck" with women. Savio, who Peterson dumped after he impregnated a teenager he met on the job, wound up dead, and Peterson wound up with a seven-figure profit. Fourth wife Stacy Peterson, who confessed to a minister that Peterson killed Savio, has been missing for months.

Savio was repeatedly ignored by local authorities even though she had filed multiple abuse reports against Peterson. Despite a plea for help to a prosecutor, and her prediction that Peterson would kill her and get away with it, no one helped Savio, even though Peterson reportedly broke into her home and terrorized her.

A bruised Savior wound up "drowned" in a dry bathtub. Her death scene was one of several that Peterson, swinging his nightstick as a cop, took over when people who had displeased him wound up dead.

In November, 2007, as part of a series on this bizarre case, we told you how easy it is to kill someone and fake drowning. Out of respect to Dr. Baden's work, we held off on publishing that article, and the entire series, including this list of questions that should have been asked about Savio's death, but weren't asked despite her mysterious death.

Not, of course, that Peterson has been charged with anything, even though Stacy Peterson has been missing since November, 2007. Her family has led a sustained effort to find her. Eerily, Stacy, echoing Savio, had warned her family Peterson told her he could kill her and get away with it, because, as a cop, he knew how. His second wife, Vicki Connolly, said the same thing--and that she's still afraid of him.

Thanks to Fox News and expert Dr. Michael Baden, Savio was exhumed and two new autopsies, one by Baden, proved that her death was not an accidental drowning. Earlier this year, Savio's death was ruled a "wrongful homicide." This week, a judge appointed legal guardians for Savio's children, a move that's been long overdue, and changed the executors of the estate to Savio family members.

Really, it's hard to keep up with all the twists and turns in this dirty tangle. A former fiancee told of Peterson stalking and threatening her, using his badge to do so. Peterson was once fired as a cop for, among other things, outing an undercover cop to a known killer.

He was under investigation again for alleged improper conduct when he hastily resigned. Now represented by hoping-for-a-TV-movie mouthpiece Joel Brodsky, Peterson has been playing peep show teaser with the media. He's a regular on media circuits, talking about his "Mr. Mom" duties and oh yea, the women who are hot, hot, hot for this baggy-eyed, paunchy, Lothario of loathing.

However, he won't answer relevant questions about the fate of his wives. Most recently, he and Brodsky, in yet another Charlie McCarthy performance, finally went back to the Greta Van Susteren show--with of course, "no talk" rules.

Peterson bluntly said he'd take the Fifth Amendment if he's called to court in any civil action from Savio's family. Coyly, he giggled and said that he would do and say whatever Brodsky told him to say. Then Peterson, good buddy of media stars, reminded Greta that she's overdue for a tea party with Stacy's daughter.

At least he's still got one weapon: his mouth. But that's all he has, other than his Charlie McCarthy sidekick Brodsky. Peterson has again been blocked from getting his guns back.

Earlier this year, Brodsky asked the court to return Peterson's guns, and place them in the custody of Peterson's Oak Brook cop son. Judge Richard Schoenstedt agreed, if Peterson had a valid Illinois Firearm Owners Identification Card. Authorities immediately revoked Peterson's firearms card.

This time around,Brodsky asked that the weapons be returned to Peterson's adult son Stephen Peterson, an Oak Brook police officer. This dance-around idea, another entry in the growing pile of Brodsky-Peterson weirdness, made no sense. If Peterson needed *a* (not nine) guns for self-defense, then how would they be useful at Stephen his son's house? If he wanted them back because of their monetary value and he wanted them to be safe, why did he and Brodsky believe that police custody was an unsafe place for them to be?

This time, Schoenstedt ruled that the guns were evidence in an ongoing investigation of "possible criminal conduct," The Peanut crew wonders if the discovery of an illegal, hidden weapon at Drew Peterson's home may have swayed the judge about Peterson's reliability.

Not that the public is buying what Peterson is selling. A MediaCurves study of audience responses to Peterson's first interview with Today Show's Matt Lauer on TV showed that the audience believed only one thing Peterson said.

When Lauer asked Peterson if he could present anything that would clear him in the disappearance of his fourth wife, Stacy, or or the death of his third wife, Kathleen Savio, Peterson said "no." For the record, Peterson has continously said that Stacy ran off with another man--leaving her two children behind with no communication.

The search for Stacy Peterson goes on. Ditto the search for truth and justice for Kathleen Savio, Stacy Peterson, their children, and families.

Nuclear & Social Fallout: After Bhutto's Killing, a Shell-Shocked Pakistan Explodes in Riots & Ethnic Tensions

As Pakistan's government gives conflicting stories of the cause of death for assassinated former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, and refuses outside investigatory help, Pakistan is exploding from within. Accusations of a coverup have now been joined with a flaring of ethnic tensions in this nuclear power nation.

Although the government is trying to pass off Bhutto's death as accidental while a shooter and a suicide bomber attacked her, people around the world aren't buying their story. In saying that Bhutto injured herself by falling down during the attack and hitting her head, the government is desperately trying to stop the tidal wave of declaring the truth: Bhutto is a martyr for freedom and her people, and she was assassinated in a skillful plot.

Unctously, government spokesmen have been saying how sad it is that Bhutto chose to stand up and wave at her supporters, thus leading to her falling down and causing her fatal injury. This cold, callous attempt to blame the victim while diverting attention from the government's failure to provide the reasonable security she had requested, and also distract attention from a plot, reveals why Bhutto returned home and gave her life to fight the current government.

Nuclear power, and Pakistan's people, are in the hands of duplicitous power-mongers and are at increasing risk from Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and jihadists. After Bhutto's assassination and the government's deceit, Pakistan is likely to slide backwards, thus giving terrorists exactly what they wanted.

A key question remains: why is the current government so quick to play into the terrorists' hands? Instead of shutting down investigations and turning away help, Pakistan's government should be seeking truth in an open way.

Al-Qaeda Commander: We Killed Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto

Al-Qaeda's Afghanistan commander, Mustafa Abu Al-Yazid, said that the terrorist organization killed former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto.

"We terminated the most precious American asset," declared Al-Yazid. He phonedAdnkronos International (AKI) from a hidden base.

Videos from the death scene and Bhutto's life follow.

Video: Benazir Bhutto Assassinated in Pakistan, Bombs Kill Many

Video: Bhutto spoke frankly about the fact that the Taliban and radical Islamists, as well as political opponents, would try to kill her when she returned to Pakistan to fight for democracy after her exile.

Sad news from Pakistan: charismatic opposition leader Benazir Bhutto was savagely gunned down during a bombing attack that killed at least 20 today. The photo was taken just before her death.

Many believed that she had come home knowing that she would eventually be martyred. Bhutto rallied faith, spirit and resolve against the oppressive regime of President Pervez Musharraf.

Educated at Radcliff in the United States and Oxford in England, Bhutto came from a family that fought hard, and died, for freedom in Pakistan. Her father, a former prime minister, was hanged by a repressive regime.

Bhutto, a former prime minister of Pakistan, went against the tide in Islamic regions. She was the first female prime minister in an Islamist country, and served twice despite persecution.

Video: Bhutto speaks about Al-Qaeda, the Taliban, and the use of the Muslim religion for terrorism.

During service as prime minister, Bhutto brought electricity to many in Pakistan--in the 1990's. She worked against corruption, and fought for health, education, and welfare improvements for the Pakistani people.

Unafraid to speak out and fight for what she believed, Bhutto had been imprisoned many times, and has been under death threats since she returned to Pakistan to lead her Pakistan People's Party (PPP). A horrific suicide bombing killed more than 100 people during her motorcade in October.

The world has lost a valiant voice; Islamic extremists have proven again that freedom, in their world view, is not an option. Bhutto was anti-terrorism, anti Al-Qaeda, anti-Taliban, and, especially as a woman leader, was a special threat to terrorists and those seeking violence and repression of others. She also wanted to assist the U.S. in finding Osama bin Laden and in stopping the illegal traffic of weapons of mass destruction by terrorists.

This is a developing news story. Will Pakistan erupt in fury?

Drew Peterson Killed Kathleen Savio, Said Missing Wife Stacy

Before she went missing, Stacy Peterson told clergy and friends that her husband, former Bolingbrook cop, Drew Peterson killed his third wife, Kathleen Savio, according to Michael Sneed of the Chicago Sun-Times.

Stacy, Peterson's fourth wife, also warned that if she disappeared Peterson would have killed her. Savio, who supposedly drowned in a dry bathtub, told her family and friends the same thing.

Even though Savio filed a protective order, made 18 abuse complaints, and wrote to an assistant state attorney pleading for help, she was ignored. Following a post-exhumation autopsy, expert Dr. Michael Baden said her death was a homicde.

Peterson, once fired for revealing the identity of an uncover officer to a known killer, has a history of lying, cheating, and abuse. He allegedly threatened three of his wives with death , bragging that because he was a cop he could make a murder look like an accident.

The day she disappeared, Stacy reportedly told Peterson to get out of the house as she began divorce proceedings. Are there multiple motives for Stacy Peterson's disappearance and possible homicide?

Follow the money. When Savio died, Peterson was freed from child support and alimony. He also inherited more than $1.5 million in various assets.

If Stacy Peterson divorced him, she could claim one-half of those assets, as well as child support for their two children and a part of his $72,000 a year pension. If her claims about Savio's death were true, she could also name Peterson as a killer, making her disappearance a double win for Peterson: protecting the money and removing a threat to a murder cover-up.

The Peterson investigation, which now includes the FBI and dozens of Illinois cops, is gaining momentum. Still unknown: the whereabouts of Thomas Morphey, Peterson's step-brother, who reportedly helped Peterson move a large blue bin out of the Peterson's bedroom the day Stacy disappeared.

Morphey, sources say, then became distraught, and said that he was afraid that he had helped Peterson move Stacy's body. He wound up in the hospital with a drug overdose in what is currently being called a suicide attempt.

Sex, Drugs, Politics & Death Threats: Journalists Under Fire in Columbia

Drug cartels, politicians, ego, greed, and unbridled power have created a toxic mix for journalists in Columbia. . The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) cites Columbia as one of the most dangerous places for reporters, photographers, and their support staff.

A Columbian journalist is in hiding after Colombian President Alvaro Uribe Velez accused him of collaboration with drug lord Pablo Excobar's mistress in publishing a book alleging Uribe has drug ties. Gonzalo Guillen had his security detail reduced as dozens of death threats followed Uribe's attack, according to the CPJ.

Reporters Without Borders earlier this year issued a harrowing report on the 30,000 paramilitaries, called the "Black Eagles" unleashed on journalists by Uribe's government. In June, Javier Dario Arroyave was stabbed to death as the attacks on journalists escalated, according to the International Federation of Journalists.

Journalism is a risky business, especially in areas where power means absolute power, and where a free press is not a right. As recent events in Burma (Myanmar) have shown, truth all too often teeters on the edge of a grave.

Goldman Family Seeks Disputed O.J. Memorabilia

O.J. Simpson, in jail again on multiple felony charges, now has another problem: the family of murder victim Ron Goldman now wants to seize the sports memorabilia Simpson allegedly tried to steal in Las Vegas. The Goldman family won a multimillion-dollar award in a wrongful death verdict against Simpson, and since then has worked to find assets that Simpson hides to defy the verdict.

If the Goldman family has its way, it may soon own the sports memorabilia that O.J. Simpson is accused of committing armed robbery to recover for himself.

Since winning a multimillion-dollar settlement against Simpson in Ron Goldman's death, the family has waged a decade-long campaign to track down and claim Simpson's assets.

That effort hasn't stopped with the NFL star's arrest following a confrontation with memorabilia collectors in a Las Vegas hotel room. On Tuesday, the family plans to file request in Superior Court to obtain ownership of the sports memorabilia seized.
